The Path of Meditation
Sant Mat is a practical way of life for realizing our true self as soul and awakening the Universal Consciousness within us, through meditation. The essential component of Sant Mat is the competent, living Master-Saint who connects and guides the aspirant in meditation to their Higher Self, at the level of soul, in the form of inner Light and inner Sound.
“Swami Ji tells us that in these dark times only three things can bring us true peace, happiness and self-knowledge:
Satsang [discourse of spiritual truth];
Guru [Master-teacher and guide on the spiritual path who reveals the truth which already lies inside us];
and Shabd [the inner Sound, which is the source of all creation]”
Sant Mat, the path of the Masters, is the basic practice of spiritual science or mysticism. It lies at the root of all major world religions, although it is not a religion itself. However, objective examination of the scriptures of various religious traditions illuminates remarkable commonalities and illustrates the universal nature of this “science of the soul.”
At all times, living, competent masters cared for the spiritual well-being of people. Baba Sawan Singh, Sant Kirpal Singh, Sant Thakar Singh and others worked in the past. Today it is Sant Khem Singh. In his lectures (satsangs) he talks about the chance of being born as a human being and gives emphasis to the request of the ancient Greeks: Human, know yourself!
He explains how much we need access to our own source of power, the soul that we are, and the soul’s connection to God. He grants the souls who are longing here the connection to Naam, or the Word, so that they can take up the path of self-knowledge.
In addition, he gives a connection and first-hand experience of the inner Light and the inner Sound, which are inner manifestations of God, in some traditions called the Word or Holy Spirit, they represent the link between soul and Over-Soul, between God and creation.
As human beings, this is our most basic need — conscious connection through meditation to who we are at our spiritual core.
