“Anchor the Master in your hearts and go forward fearlessly, for he is always by your side.“
Sant Khem Singh
This brief bio of Sant Khem Singh is also available as a PDF pamphlet (German only).
Master Sant Khem Singh was born on July, 06, 1947 in Punjab as the child of a senior clerk of the King of the Mandi Empire, who was also an agriculturist. His family was very well known and also influential. His father passed away recently at the age of 105.
From his childhood, Sant Khem Singh was attracted to the spiritual. He had many meetings with Sant Kirpal Singh and Baba Sawan Singh in his dreams, but he did not know who they were.
From the age of 10 he lived in a boarding school and attended the Sanskrit College in Sunder Nagar. There he studied the holy scriptures, including the Vedas, to acquire spiritual knowledge.
From birth he lived as a vegetarian. All this influenced his thoughts and also his way of acting. After his studies he was offered a job as a government official three times, which he always refused.
He preferred to go to a place near Sunder Nagar after his studies, buy land and build a house on it. In the house, he opened a general shop where the villagers could buy all the daily necessities.
From childhood, he was in search of a perfect master. So he met many saints, but none could really satisfy him. Finally, in 1993 he met his future Master, Sant Thakar Singh, who visited him in his ashram and later initiated him into the mysteries of inner Light and Sound. This experience fully satisfied him, for he found the true home of his soul on the very first day of his initiation.
The Master advised him that he should devote himself to the real work of Naam: meditation on the inner Light and the inner Sound. And instructed him to practise agriculture also.
Sant Khem Singh put this into practice by doing his daily chores in the farm and shop during the day. But sometimes he was so absorbed in meditation during the day that some of the customers in the shop had to leave without getting any of the things they came for!
In the evening, he would go to the nearby ashram that he ran and sit down to meditate, thus fulfilling his spiritual duties. He did all this very much to the liking of his Master, Thakar Singh.
The Master visited him again and again in the ashram and gave him all the help he needed. Sant Khem Singh regularly sent him his diary reports and shared his meditation results with him, which Master Thakar always took note of very favourably and replied to them. Thus, shortly before Master Thakar’s passing away, there are letters in which he described Sant Khem Singh as his beloved son and explained to him that he had achieved all that this body was meant for. He called him, “Lord-master’s beloved son Khem Singh, fullness of love.”
As we know from the history of the Masters of Sant Mat, the living Masters did not normally announce their successor. Baba Sawan Singh appointed someone to manage the property of his mission. But each of the successors has independently carried out his work assigned to him by God to save souls and connect them with Naam. It is interesting to note that they all had to build up their own missions, often under the greatest difficulties, by founding new ashrams and setting new priorities for the mission.
Sant Khem Singh’s mission started from Himachal and by now it has spread over parts of India. We in the West came to know about him late. Sant Khem Singh’s first foreign visitors came in 2015.
It is only since 2019 that a small but steadily growing circle of followers has formed here abroad, who receive very loving and continuous attention from the Master.
He is not only concerned about the seekers, but also those who have been initiated by his master, Thakar Singh. Everyone who is looking for a true and competent Master is invited to contact us in order to attend the Satsangs. Recorded video discourses of the Master are viewed weekly in small groups online via video conference; and approximately once a month Satsang is offered with Master Khem Singh personally in a live video conference, which is virtually attended by a much larger group from all around the world.
There is never any charge for the talks or services offered and all are welcome, irrespective of religious affiliation, faith or social standing. As it is said in the Bible, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest and refresh you.”
