Sant Khem Singh Visits Germany, Part One

Retreat in Chiemgau, June 10 – 20

Nearly 100 people came from all over Western and Eastern Europe (from France to Russia); and the United States and Canada to attend Sant Khem Singh’s first retreat and public programs outside of India. None were disappointed.

As guests were still arriving in the first couple of days, the retreat began with programs in the upstairs hall of the main building.

The theme was “Love God And Love His Humanity,” and it was true to the letter. Master Khem Singh gave a lengthy midday talk, with hymns and songs and testimonials from numerous attendants. Afterwards, the Master presided over group meditation and gave personal help to each attendee every day.

Sometimes, in the afternoon, Sant Khem Singh would go for a stroll for a little exercise and to see the countryside. It usually became a miniature group excursion. The weather was dynamic at times, yet always pleasant.

The evening programs with Sant Khem Singh were more focused on meditation. His talks were shorter, but there was still time for some shabads (devotional songs) too. Again, every evening each person attending received personal help from Sant Khem Singh in light and sound meditation.

In addition to the scheduled program, Master Khem Singh could also sometimes be seen giving an impromptu talk to anyone who might be lucky enough to be nearby.

Finally, it was time to say good-bye and prepare for the next part of the Master’s Germany itinerary.

The setting was truly picturesque and pastoral; peaceful and just perfect, helping everyone relax and forget their cares for a time…
