Another travel day. Maharaj Khem Singh Ji directed his Secretary and the bus driver to take the longer, slow, winding mountain roads of Himachal Pradesh from Dharamshala to Sundarnagar.
After some time on the road, the group was feeling tired of the bus (in which Master Khem Singh now joined them) and needed a rest. A couple of roadside stations were considered. However, each time a new rest-stop was approached, Sant Khem Singh insisted that we keep looking for a better place.
Finally, with the Master’s approval, the bus stopped for a rest and some tea. Almost immediately Sant Khem Singh was approached with much curiosity and sincere eagerness to know who he was. The Master began to speak to them and a small crowd gathered, consisting of a travelling family group. Connecting with these seekers was clearly the reason this place was chosen for the Master’s pit stop.
After a brief but fulsome talk, the Master asked his Secretary to take the names and phone numbers of the heads of the large family group in order to keep in touch, just in case. Then Master and his travelling group had their tea and resumed their journey.
However, the tale of this roadside encounter isn’t over, although it wasn’t known at the time (at least not by Sant Khem Singh’s companions). See the blog post for November 25 for the remarkable conclusion of their story..
